Organization Profile
Students for Choice (SFC) is a group dedicated to issues of reproductive freedom and health both on campus and in the greater community. Reproductive freedom is the right of every person to accurate information and safe and accessible services for and about sex and sexuality, contraception, and pregnancy. SFC is composed of three subgroups that directly address various aspects of the struggle to ensure reproductive freedom to all individuals. Brown Undergrads for Sex Health Education (BrUSHE) runs seminars in sexual health and decision-making at local high schools and distributes educational materials and condoms on the Brown campus. Patient escorting sends Brown Students to two local women's health clinics to offer support and act as a buffer between patients and protestors. Government Action seeks to effect pro-choice change in abortion policy on local and national levels through such activities as lobbying at the Rhode State House and letter writing. In addition, the group as a whole organizes speakers and events throughout the year to inform the Brown community about the realities of abortion rights, safer sex, and other issues of reproductive freedom on local, national and international levels.
Meetings are held Tuesday at 9 PM, upstairs in the Sarah Doyle Women's Center (rm 201.)
